Water Quality Tests
Regular testing of water is important to monitor the water quality and avoid potential problems, it is particularly important in new set ups or where fish health is poor.
Test are carried out for Ammonia Nitrate, Nitrate, PH and Hardness where reverse osmosis water is used.
Marine Tanks
The salt content must be monitored using a hydrometer or refractor meter, as well as the same tests carried out in a fresh water set up.
Reef Tank
Coral use up a number of elements in the water, this depends on the amount of coral growth in the system. These elements can usually be kept at a suitable levels by regular water changes, if not they can be added separately by liquid or powered supplements.
Calcium is most closely monitored as it can be used up when hard corals are being kept.
Nitrate levels must also be kept to a minimum in reef tanks as some corals don't sue high levels, this is important when keeping hard corals.
